DISCLAIMER: Because its so easy for us as humans to mis-understand good intentions I want to post this statement about ours: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO WE MERCHANDISE EITHER OUR FORMER CLASSMATES OR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST. We have NOTHING to SELL you but will GIVE anything good that we can to you. We have never been involved in multi-level marketing in any form and never will be and we do not receive compensation of any kind for recommending any health related product.

That being said, we DO know a lot about herbal medicine and how to cure "incurable diseases" without drugs and surgery and how to regain lost health and keep it... even in your old age. I have healed myself of colon cancer, melanoma, multiple skin cancers and lyme disease WITHOUT dangerous pharmaceuticals or surgery. We believe that you can do this too. So.... if, when we learn about your health issues we make unsolicited comments or offer advice about what you could do to address your health problems IT IS NOT WITH THE INTENTION OF SELLING YOU ANYTHING... we just don't want to lose you before your time. If you show interest we might make recommendations for specific herbs or herbal products and internal cleansing programs that we have used ourselves with success but we certainly respect your right to trust instead in doctors, drugs and the medical profession in all of its "glory". Should by chance, you find the good doctors telling you that there is nothing more they can do for you... that your disease is terminal...or... you just get SICK AND TIRED of being "SICK AND TIRED"... you might just want to consider talking to us before you go make arrangements with the funeral home.

Bottomline: We want to help you... NOT MAKE MONEY off of you in ANY way.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT- Sept 23, 2014: (Well, at least its exciting to me!).

It only took me 67 years to officially become an author... on my 67th birthday, as it were. I was just notified by my printer that my first book, entitled, "True Stories of Kentucky In The Early Years," is now done and the copies are ready to pick up. This book is about little known true stories of heroism and danger involving the pioneer men and women on the Kentucky frontier in the late 1700's. Though all true, it was written to read like adventure fiction.

UPDATE: May, 2022: I am now the author of 5 non-fiction books on Kentucky's pioneer and Civil War history.

School Story:

I will never forget that hot August night in the auditorium of the redwood building and what happened during a Bible study being conducted by GTA and Dr. Hoeh. It was soooooo stuffy in there that three of us freshman sitting side by side were constantly elbowing each other to try to stay awake. GTA was speaking very calmly and asking for occasional comments from Dr. Hoeh.
By the time the study was half over probably nearly half of the students and church members were nodding off. GTA obviously noticed this and very nonchallantly removed his lapel mike from his tie and moved it up to his lips. Suddenly... he yelled into the mike at the top of his voice... "WAKE UP!!!" Some poor elderly fellow in the back row jerked upright so hard that he went over backwards in his metal folding chair. There was a tremendously loud CRASH as the chair and its occupant hit the hard concrete floor. We all turned to look while 2 deacons rushed over to help the poor man up off his back. I believe he just about set a world record for blushing a dark red... thankfully, he was uninjured except for his ego.
As I recall, the incident scared the three of us freshmen so bad we had NO trouble at all staying awake for the rest of the study.

DORIAN COOK has left an In Memory comment for Ben Chapman.
Dec 12, 2020 at 1:43 PM

In 1965 I was a freshman at Big Sandy.  Ben was my speech teacher... but more importantly... he was much more.  I will explain momentarily.

I was still 17... several weeks from turning 18... and so "green" when I headed for Big Sandy to begin college that I stopped and ate a ham sandwich at a restaurant in Gladewater before arriving on campus.  It was Friday and I found out about the Sabbath that day and kept my first one the very next day!  Needless to say... the next few weeks were very amazing ones as I kept my first feast and found out how much I did not know about the Bible.

The first negative for me was my contracting strep throat... a REALLY bad case...  had big red blisters all over the back of my throat and the pain so intense that I was writhing back and forth on my bed in booth city.  I roomed with Clyde Staley, Bob James and Ralph Read.   Bob noted my condition... couldn't miss it in tight quarters like a booth.

He came over and said, "Why don't you get anointed?"  I could not speak at all and wrote on a note pad... WHAT'S ANOINTING???   He said... "Oh, you don't know about that?  I will go to the mail receiving office and get you a copy of the booklet, DOES GOD HEAL TODAY?"

I nodded my assent and soon he was back with said booklet... which I read front to back immediately.   I wrote on my note pad... "I want to be anointed!"   At that stage of my young life I was too ignorant to doubt that it would work.

Bob checked the elder duty roster and found that it was Ben Chapman that would do the job.  So...  Bob loaded me in his car... one of the few students who had one... and drove me over to Ben's house on faculty row.   We went into his study and he had me kneel on a pad he put on the floor and began a prayer.  He thanked God for the healing that... WAS GOING TO TAKE PLACE... no doubt in the man at all.  He reminded God that I had a lot of responsibility as a student at AC and that I could not afford to get behind in my class work by being sick.

He finished the prayer with "In Jesus name, amen!"  And I got up off the floor.... COMPLETELY HEALED OF MY STREP THROAT !!!  The red blisters were all gone, the pain was gone, my voice was restored and I left his house in amazement.  This is a true witness of my very first experience with anointing and a MIRACLE of healing.

I have anointed many people since that time myself and have seen even greater miracles of healing...  Ben Chapman's EXAMPLE of being so sure that healing would occur by thanking God in the prayer for that healing that had not yet taken place was not lost on me.  What we have lost, over the intervening years, is the FAITH ONCE DELIVERED that worked miracles.

Thank you Ben... peoples lives have been saved because of your EXAMPLE you set of how a "man of God" should pray to an ignorant... but eager to learn... teenager at AC.  I have been... and will be until my own death, a part of your legacy and tribute to your ministry!

I will look forward to telling you this in person on the other side.  Rest in peace till then.

Hey Ralph.... I wondered what ever happened to you, Bob James and Clyde Staley... I will never forget our time sharing that little booth at Big Sandy. I have not been able to pick up even a hint of where any of you ended up til now. I don't know if you remember but I became ill and had to leave A.C. after about three months there. It took four and a half years to discover what I was suffering from... acute hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I learned some years later that Ron Kelly and Les McCullough had written me off as a "demon case" so that prevented me from ever returning to A.C. and graduating even after I recovered my health. Any way, I remember that you were always a good friend during those months I was privileged to be at A.C. Big Sandy and I just wanted to write you this note and wish you the best as we continue to "age like fine wine."

DORIAN COOK has left an In Memory comment for LOREN EARL WEINBRENNER.
Sep 24, 2014 at 7:33 AM

You were a good  friend and spiritual brother, Loren.  Your smile would light up a room and I don't think I ever failed to see it come to your face even once all the times we met and talked at services at Big Sandy.   I knew that I could count on any conversation that we would have being pleasant.  Now, you have gone and gotten the difficult part of life... that of dying... out of the way.  I suspect that I still have "miles to go before I sleep" but I'll get there eventually, along with all the rest of your AC Big Sandy friends and classmates.  Seeing your smile "shining like the sun"  again when we are all reunited, is a good thought to hang on to as the rest of us approach that "appointment" that must be kept.

Til we meet again, may you rest in peace!

I remember Ed Smith fondly as a minister who always seemed to have a ready smile and a kind word.  He was GENTLE with the "flock" and a credit, indeed, to the ministry.   I am glad that he got  a lot of years to spend with his family and look forward to seeing and hearing that great big smile and booming friendly voice again when we meet on the "other side."

Does this sound like you? If so, you could be one of the REAL "In-crowd". I understand that membership in that crowd comes with an "Eternity Back" guarantee. ;>)

Okay... okay... YES I had/have those Irish "sticky-out" big ears and a dorky expression but hey... beauty is only skin-deep! I managed to overcome my good looks and grow up ugly like all the rest of you geezers out there. :>)

This is our youngest grandson, Caleb at age 2. He is a "MIRACLE BABY"... born DEAD while his mother was bleeding to death. BOTH are alive and well today. If you would like to know why, send me a private message and I will tell you the story.~ Dorian

Dorian takes a break a the combination retaurant/store/post office... the ONLY building in the "wee village" of Bridge of Balgy in Glen Lyon, Scotland.

Linda took the "low road" while we were in Scotland last and... YEP... you guessed it!
She ended up on "the bonny, bonny, banks of LOCH LOMOND!

We leased a restored 1730's shepherd's house 45 miles back into Glen Lyon... one of the most beautiful valleys in the Highlands of Scotland... for two weeks. Had to get out my trusty metal detector and see what the Scots had lost in the yard along the way.
Posted: Dec 17, 2013 at 12:20 AM
Sweet success... I am pointing to a 200+ year old coin I had just discovered in that yard. I found a total of 8 coins dated from the 1700's to the 1800's. At another site I found Scottish coins over 400 years old!

Linda shows you one of the giant ferns so common to the Highlands of Scotland called "bracken" by the Scots. She is standing on Drummond Hill where we learned of an intriguing legend about the Apostle John appearing in time to save a McGregor Clan Chieftain heading into an ambush by enemies.

Here Linda is practicing her new found fly casting skills in the River Lyon near the head of Glen Lyon, Scotland hoping to snag a big trout for dinner.

Will add more pics as time permits. ~ Dorian
